We saw all the videos hyping this place up that we had to try it after we saw a broadway show. So glad they were open late because we were starving. We got in line at 10:05 pm and got to the front at 11:15 pm. There was 4 of us so we switched off sitting down halfway there. Team work! The food is worth all the hype and it's so cheap. For 2 combos and a drink I paid $21. I was shocked at how cheap it was. And there is so much food I couldn't even finish. If you're ever down to wait or in the area DO IT!

Amazing food. The meat was delicious and they really douse it in sauce. The spicy rice is indeed spicy! I added more red sauce because I prefer it spicier. We got in line around 6:30 pm on a Wednesday evening and had our food by around 7:15. Considering the long lines, they are super quick and efficient with getting orders out. It's a huge portion, so definitely great value for the money. If you want extra white sauce, it'll cost extra. They also have a cooler of drinks available. They take both cash and card. I'd come back for sure but I wouldn't wait more than hour for this

Two hour wait!! Was 100% worth it for a first try for sure! This was the freshest tasting halal cart food I've ever had. I got the mixed platter chicken & lamb over spicy rice with white and hot sauce. The actual chicken pieces were big, juicy, and extremely flavorful, no burnt or charred pieces. The lamb was succulent and perfectly spiced. The rice was so delicious and complemented the meat perfectly. The white sauce was really good and brought the entire meal together. There were also some pita bread pieces in the bowl. Getting the mixed platter was definitely the move, I always prefer when I have different toppings in my bowls. The entire meal was super affordable for the portion you're getting, I think I paid like $10. Again, the wait was the biggest downside but worth the experience if you're visiting NYC! There were a couple areas for seating right across from the cart which was nice to have. A lot of the staff working were Egyptian, made me feel like I was back in Egypt! Love a good taste of home

The food is one of the true gems of the NYC street food scene. This is the best lamb or chicken over rice anywhere. Oh and it's incredibly reasonably priced at less than $10 for a plate. Whether you choose lamb or chicken or the mixed plate, you'll get a wonderfully spiced tender bite of meat. I'm pretty sure whatever marinade they are using, it could probably break down the fibers of an old leather shoe and make it taste great. The rice is perfect, fluffy and seasoned, always get the spicy rice, which adds to the yum profile. Always get both the white and red sauce but if you can't take spicy, ask them for light spicy. It will still be spicy but deal with it, the burn is the price you pay for a little bit of yum yum. The final stop on this street bite is the warmed benign pita bread and layered on top soaking up all the delicious juices from the meat and sauces. Now for the negatives, sit tight there are a few; There is no menu anywhere but be ready with what you want otherwise you'll get an angry stare from the line waiting behind you to order. There is most likely going to be a frustrating wait, the staff may be a little unpolished with communication especially if you have questions about your order. You may or may not know if they are open and they may not pickup your call to confirm their hours. And finally this is street food so you'll have to brave the elements for your meal. Generally speaking I'm not sure I'd want to wait upwards of 30+ minutes given what I observed and others had noted about line cutting which extends the wait time and is frustrating to see. The few times I had gone, the weather was cold and rainy, which made the line cutting even more egregious. Honestly the cult following is still strong and if a constant rain doesn't shorten the line, nothing will I guess. Finally they do take credit cards which is a big plus.

We tried the combo rice platter which came with chicken and lamb gyro. The chicken was good, but the lamb was definitely the star. The gyro is soft and tender and packed with flavor. The lamb is not gamey at all. I love saucey food, and the platter was doused in white sauce adding a creamy component without overpowering the meat. The rice was also cooked perfectly, not mushy or undercooked. We also got a side of fries and falafel but they were okay. The falafel was a bit dense and didn't have much flavor. We got in line 10 minutes before they opened and waited for about 45 minutes before getting out food.

I can't remember the exact price but it's $45 for 4 platters and 1 fry. I honestly think their spiced rice (red) is really good and unique but the meats are normal and nothing too outstanding compared to other halal food trucks. I love that they drench the platter with white sauce though.

Worth. The. Hype. (And the long line) If the line is from one street end to the other, expect about a 30 minute wait. Honestly, the line looks more daunting than it is. They prepare the food quickly and the line moves relatively fast. The food is beyond affordable! Rice plates and gyros are about $10. Falafels are 2 for $1. Extra white sauce is 2 for $1. Portions are big, generous for the price. So so good. Rice is perfectly flavored and seasoned. We loved it so much we went two days in a row during our two day trip. There are tables nearby and places to sit and eat the food while it's hot.

The wait: about 30 seconds for each person in front of you. There were 78 people in front of us when we joined the line, it took us 40 mins in total from when we lined up until we got our food. We went on a Saturday at 7pm which is probably a busier time. Service was great, the order taker was friendly and quick and made sure he got the orders right. Most importantly, the food. The food was very satisfying. It's a great mix of flavor, freshness, textures, and colors. The red sauce is quite spicy, so be warned. The white sauce is good, it is some sort of mayo-based sauce. The green sauce was nice, it wasn't spicy and added brightness. Maybe grab the sauces on the side and add them as you see fit. The chicken was tender, juicy, well-marinated and well-cooked. It's almost like shish tawouk rather than a chicken shawarma, and the lamb was flavorful and well seasoned. I prefer the chicken. The fries on top were nice and added even more variety. There's a pita chopped up inside the platter, and you can choose between yellow rice or spicy rice, or do like I did and get both. Neither is substantially better than the other, they're both ok. Overall, it's incredible value for $9 and the line moves pretty quick. I ordered an extra one to eat a few days later and it reheated well and tasted great!
